There are a lot of stereotypes in human thinking. There are some in the Russian way of thinking, too: poet - Pushkin, city - Moscow, gun- Kalashnikov, watch- Komandirskie.
The Komandirskie watch line was originally produced for the Russian army at the watch factory "VOSTOK" in the city of Chistopol which is located in Tartarstan (Russia).
VOSTOK is the biggest manufacturer of mechanical watches in Russia.
The company has existed for over 60 years and has been able to increase the number of employees from 3,000 to 4,000 despite the difficult economic times after “Perestroika”. The factory capacity permits production of up to one million mechanical watches and watch movements per year. The plant has been considerably modernized since the last few years, which makes the production “on the spot” of all watch components possible. The factory has nursery schools and sports places, schools, a university of its own serving the needs of the enterprise for qualified employees, thus offering peopled employed at the factory not only a job but also an appropriate social environment.
Due to the previous market success or just therefore, broader expansion possibilities were sought in Chistopol. So high priority was given to the markets in Europe and the USA.
To be able to serve these markets better, in summer 2003 the company Koliz-Vostok was founded in Lithuania with the clear aim to reach: development, production and distribution of a new watch brand Vostok-Europe, which to 100% concentrates on the Westeuropean market needs. On request of this new company Vostok Watch-Maker Ltd manufactured two new movement modifications based on caliber 2416 - caliber 2432 with a central disc for day & night indicator and caliber 2435 with a lateral disc (at 3 o'clock). The watch movement of the Komandirskie line is automatic movement 2416 with date calender. This is an extremely reliable and exact watch movement with 31jewels and shock-resistance balance. The rotor is from a particularly heavy Wolfram nickel alloying and pulls the mechanism up to 31-hours automatic winding. The disc of the day & night indicator is constructed in the way that it influences neither the daily accuracy nor the automatic winding negatively.
The design conception was prepared in Vilnus (Lithuania) simultaneously with the development of the movement modifications in Chistopol. The decision was made to choose as general style direction the Soviet technologiy of the sixties and seventies. The Design follows the slogan "The best of Soviet technologies for modern watch design". Each watch line is based on a certain achievement of that time. If one looks at the watches, one sees that every model in its proportions and style corresponds to its Soviet-Techno prototype.ist.

of the first Vostok Europe collection were introduced at the watch fair (Baselworld) in April 2004 and became a great approval of visitors from the whole world. The Basel introduction was a complete surprise for the other watch manufacturers of Russia since the entire project Vostok-Europe was kept a secret well until there.
The developers of this new watch brand aimed at bringing to the watch market a new product, which considerably differes from until today known parameters of the Russian watch production. That happened under use of new automatic movments in connection with a new design approach.
The continuous international success proves the correctness of the concept.
